Research Job Opening in South Africa

A position of a Senior Research Officer/Research Officer has arisen in the Health Systems Evaluation and Planning Programme of the Centre for Health Policy (CHP), University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
CHP is a leading health policy research group within South Africa, undertaking multi-disciplinary and independent policy research and development in order to promote health and health care for all in an equitable and just South Africa.
The above post is a contract position which will involve a wide-range of policy relevant research activities. Current and planned projects include a focus on:
* developing models for district health systems development
* issues in the decentralisation of health services
* improving quality and performance at primary health care facilities.
The position is also likely to involve consultancies for various national and international groups.
The qualifications necessary for this position are: formal training (master's or postdoctoral) and/or relevant professional experience in health systems development, public health, public health administration and epidemiology.
Candidates should have strong research skills and skills in policy development.
