Description of duties:
To provide state-of-art technical assistance to Member States in HIV drug resistance (HIVDR) related activities, including but not limited to, critically reviewing plans and protocols on HIVDR surveillance and monitoring, to a series of specific countries.
To assist countries in the development and testing of effective methods for data collection and guidelines for the assessment of quality of surveillance systems and usability of data.
To organize and conduct regional and national group training activities on all aspects of HIVDR surveillance and monitoring.
To pro-actively facilitate the development and setting-up, and/or adapting, regional and national level HIVDR databases and advising on HIVDR data compilation.
To focus and lead the establishment of effective linkages between the monitoring of the HIV/AIDS Health Sector related activities with emphasis on patient tracking system for ART.
As related to the above, to prepare technical reports on HIVDR activities for Member States and the Regional Office, in collaboration with headquarters and other Regional Offices to ensure effective consultation in assessing trends and results, proposing corrective and adaptive actions as appropriate.
To represent the Regional Office and Member States at national. Regional and international meetings and expert committees, advocating for and assisting Member States and the Regional Office in mobilizing resources for HIBDR surveillance and monitoring.
To serve as expert and focal point for community-based adherence support, including but not limited to providing advice and guidance on related issues.
