RFI: Drug Companies and Social Action Programs
-----------------------------------------------
Hello,
I am writing to request assistance on an article I am writing on the
increase of pharmaceutical companies participating in "non-research re-
lated activities" -- i.e. community based initiatives or social action
type programs.
The one example I have found is Glaxo Wellcome's Positive Action Pro-
gram. Is anyone aware of other such programs? Does anyone have any idea
how much of a trend this is and ideas on how it relates to their clini-
cal or research and development work. Are there any groups monitoring
such activities?
Has anyone worked with Glaxo Wellcome or other companies and would be
willing to share some thoughts on their experiences (either positive or
negative).
Any information would be greatly appreciated. I will happily credit in-
dividuals or organizations in my article for any information provided
and send a copy of the article upon publication. Unfortunately, I am on
a deadline -- the article is due Friday, February 13, 1998.
I work for the Global AIDS Program of the National Council for Interna-
tional Health. The article is for our publication, AIDSLink. The Global
AIDS Program of NCIH works to promote the exchange of information and
collaboration among US based PVOS, indigenous NGOs, and organizations
with international HIV/AIDs activities.
You may respond to me directly at the email listed below.
Thank you in advance for any assistance.
