RFI: PhD Training in Epidemiology
---------------------------------
Dear All
I am a medical Doctor working in Uganda. I have had master's
training in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics in Uganda
Makerere University. I also got a master's training in Public
Health Methodology in Belgium, where I passed with a first class.
I am now working at the Infectious Disease Institute in Kampala
Uganda. I would like to start my PhD training most preferably in
Epidemiology. I would like to get contacts of Universities that
offer their PhD programmes by Distance Education. I would prefer
contacts from the USA or European Countries. I will be very
pleased to get that information.
You can e-mail that information to this address:

Thank you.

Dear Alice,
I hope all is well. You can try London School of Hygiene and
Tropical Medicine.
I know they have PhD program by research... you need not to be a
full time student.
All the best,

Hi Alice,
the London School is fine and you can do your work in Uganda at
the IDI. Apart from the mandatory periods you need to spend at
the school, you can spend your study leave at the IDI. The other
option is to apply to the Open University, UK. You will be re-
quired to have quality supervision on site by people used to UK
style PhDs and a suitable external supervisor.
Best wishes,
