RFI: Sustainability of ARV Treatment (3)
----------------------------------------
This posting is in response to the RFI posted by Mwemezi Ngemera
of Tanzania on Sat, 16 Apr 2005.
To learn "how different countries are implementing ARV pro-
grammes" and much more and assuming that Mr. Ngemera's focus of
interest in "Health Systems with poor resources" is primarily
but not exclusively Africa-centered, I recommend that he:
(a) reviews a March 2004 opinion piece by this author on the
"Ethics, economics and sustainability of ARV drug treatment pro-
grammes in Africa" at Yahoo Groups:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Datelinehealth-Nigeria/message/458
or on AFRO-NETS archives:
http://www.afronets.org/archive/200403/msg00090.php
(b) searches the following database at Datelinehealth-Africa web
portal for a growing body of resources on ARV programmes in Af-
rican countries. Keywords to search with are: ARV, Antiretrovi-
rals.
(i) News database: This provides many newspaper based reports
and grey literatures on policy declarations and project/program
reports by all layers of government and all shades of PVOs in
different African countries in matters of implementing ARV
treatment programmes.

Note that subscription may be required to access non-current ar-
chived reports older than 30 days from posted date.
(ii) Research report database: This database will provide pri-
marily research articles, briefing papers, policy papers and
analytical reviews on ARV programmes in Africa.
Click on this URL:
http://www.datelinehealth-africa.net/betav1.0/researchreports/researchreports.asp
and search site with key words: ARV, Antiretrovirals - for
available resources. No subscription is necessary to access ar-
chived documents in this module.
I hope Mr. Ngemera and other interested individuals find these
DLHA resources of benefit. I also look forward to having Mr.
Ngemera share his research findings with this forum.
