RFI: Volunteer in Media as a Catalyst for Social Change
-------------------------------------------------------
Greetings,
I am a student of the University of California at Santa Cruz (in the
U.S.), and I am writing regarding a website I found listing independ-
ent media groups across the world. I am a community studies and jour-
nalism major, and am interested in internship opportunities. I am
particularly interested in Media Institute of Southern Africa, Free-
dom of Expression Institute, The Media Project in Mozambique, and any
other programs you may recommend.
I have skills in film, film editing, photography, basic internet web
page design, and Journalism. My interest is in using media as a cata-
lyst for social change, and encouraging people to take control of
their own media. I see media as a central player in the construction
of the ways societies are constructed, and I would love more than
anything to work with one of the organizations I have listed above. I
have e-mailed the organizations with the addresses I found at:
www.healthnet.org/afronets/afronets-hma/afro-nets.200007/msg00104.html
but have had little luck. I was just wondering if you have phone con-
tacts for these organizations, or if you know of any way to get in
touch with them.
Thank you so much for your time,
Holly Mulder-Wollan
