RFI: Working as MD in Africa (4)
--------------------------------
Hi Colin,
I read your letter of inquiry about working in Africa. I am a Cameroo-
nian currently in Germany where I am doing part of my training in Ob-
stetrics and Gynaecology. I started the programme in 1994 in the O & G
Dept of the University of Yaounde. With my seven years experience in
Cameroon, and being a Cameroonian myself, I could be of help if you are
interested in Cameroon. I, however, foresee difficulties not only in
having a job but also for you to accept the low salaries in the country
if you get a job. Are you interested in doing residency or just prac-
ticing to earn money? Maybe you have some financial support to make a
living there; in that case I see many chances for you to be accepted
either a physician in the private sector or as a resident in the uni-
versity teaching hospital. Your MD from Canada will certainly be ac-
cepted; a working permit will depend on the aforementioned - will cer-
tainly not be a problem if you have some financial support. For more
inquiries, I will be ready to attend to you.
Sincerely Yours,
Dr. Nkemayim Denis
