Details of the above course which is presented by the National Urbani-
sation and Health Research Programme of the Medical Research Council
under the auspices of the Public Health Programme of the University of
the Western Cape are as follows:
Dates: Module I : 29 June - 3 July 1998
Module II: 6 - 10 July 1998
Venue: Medical Research Council (MRC), Cape Town, South Africa
Target Group:
Health service managers, senior environmental health officers, town
planners, post-graduate health students, researchers, policy makers.
Course content will be selected from:
- definitions and aspects of urban health research,
- qualitative and quantitative research methods in urban settings,
- urban health issues,
- maternal and child health,
- environmental health, healthy cities,
- movement, urbanisation and nutrition,
- housing and health,
- translating research into policy (including community involvement and
effective communication),
- urban health and development.
