Short Course on Urbanisation and Health for Developing Countries

The Health and Development Research Group of the Medical Research Coun-
cil of SA is presenting the above course under the auspices of the Pub-
lic Health Programme of the University of the Western Cape Summer
School. The course will take place in Cape Town at the end of January
2001.

The course is an introduction to emerging health issues associated with
urbanisation in developing countries and is aimed at post-graduate
level and it is recommended for participants with a degree or diploma
in one of the Health or Life Sciences or town planning.

The course content will include elements of the following: definitions
and progress and prospects for urban health research, quantitative and
qualitative research in urban settings, urban health issues, maternal
and child health, environmental health, and the healthy cities move-
ment.
