Friends,
Once again things are happening quickly. The lectures are speeding
into us. We currently have just over 180 lectures that have been made
available. Dr. Cliff Brubaker, Dean of the School of Rehabilitation
Sciences here at the University of Pittsburgh has been doing excel-
lent work in the establishment of a Supercourse in the area of reha-
bilitation Sciences. His work is very similar to ours, so we agreed
to put his state of the art lectures up into our Supercourse. This
will add 30 new lectures to our efforts. The Supercourse has been de-
veloping for 3 years. The table below shows our progress.
New Lectures Total Lectures Lectures/Month
Months 1-6 (yr1) 16 16 2.3
Months 7-12 (yr1) 33 49 5.5
Months 1-6 (yr2) 31 80 5.2
Months 7-12 (yr2) 33 103 5.5
Months 1-6 (yr3) 10 113 0.9
Months 7-12)(yr3)(exp) 97 210 16.2
The acquisition of a large number of lectures in the past few months
have been great, and we wanted to thank all of you. Many of you now
are taping lectures either using video cameras or sending us your
slides with a Dictaphone tape. We expect tidal wave of lectures com-
ing in during the next few months. We plan that in the very near fu-
ture it will be very prestigious to be a lecturer in the Supercourse.
You will be standing on the top step listening to your national an-
them, and you will receive a gold medal for I-Prevention. Congratula-
tions. We wanted to thank everyone.
We have some exciting news from Pedro Urra from Cuba. There are 108
faculty members world wide. An amazing 69 come from Cuba, making Cuba
the second largest group of I-preventionists after the US. They also
created the first mirrored server. Pedro indicated that Cuba will be-
gin to establish a national Supercourse. Many of our lectures will be
translated into Spanish. In addition, they are recruiting some of the
best people in Cuba to contribute lectures. This is the first Na-
tional program of the Supercourse that is underway.
Several other faculty from the Supercourse have discussed possible
national program. Please let us know if you are interested. In the
future we hope to have Supercourse lectures from the Head epidemiolo-
gists in Ministries of Health, as well as the Ministers themselves.
Jack Woodhall, one of the earliest people to join the Supercourse,
and the developer of ProMed indicated that the address of the site
has moved. It can be found at http://www.promedmail.com. This site is
wonderful for the examples of real life epidemics, and we encourage
you to visit it.
If you would like to see who we are, please visit our pictures at:

and see the new people. We would love to hear from you as to what you
have been developing.
A nice article was published about the Supercourse in the Epidemi-
ologic Monitor. We very much appreciate people examining our efforts.
If you would like updated slides from the Supercourse, please let us
know.
The leaves are beginning to change in Pittsburgh. It is quite beauti-
ful, but the Pittsburgh Steelers have lost all their football games.
Hugo Lisboa from Brazil just visited with us, it was nice of him to
come. We hope that you can visit also.
