REGISTRATION

Please be informed that ONSITE registration for the National Health Conference commences on Monday, 27 November 2006 at the Ladi Kwali Conference Hall of the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja from 4.00 pm. The registration fee remains N10, 000.00 (ten thousand naira) per participant. Discount rates are available for group registrations of ten or more persons.

1. ORGANISER: Supporting Nigeria’s Response/Family Health International (SNR/FHI)

Title of the Session: BUILDING CAPACITY FOR AN EFFECTIVE MULTI-SECTORAL RESPONSE TO HIV AND AIDS

The aim of the satellite session is to provide a platform for a discussion and contributions to the Conference especially with regards to the challenges posed by HIV and AIDS to national development and specifically considering the three sub-themes of the Conference (Stewardship, Resource Mobilization and Service Delivery). The Satellite Session two key papers presented after which participants will go into break out sessions to discuss the papers and make recommendations on how to sustain the National Reforms as pertaining to HIV and AIDS beyond 2007 in line with the overall theme of the Conference.

2. ORGANISER: Partnership for Transforming Health Systems (PATHS),

Title of the Session: Strengthening the Health System for Quality Service Delivery
Venue: Acacia A & B

This satellite session will highlight the processes and outcomes of the commitment of the State Ministry of Health, Kano, to reduce maternal mortality rates (MMR) in the state. Drug Revolving Fund (DRF): A unique and practical system building tool that ensures availability of safe, quality and affordable drugs at facility level and thus facilitates increase in utilization of health services. The presentation demonstrates how Enugu state is using DRF to revamp services in the Ozalla Clinic.

3. ORGANISER: Health and Managed care Association of Nigeria (HMCAN)

Title of the Session: HEALTH INSURANCE REGULATION

The session will highlight the role of the Council in the South Africa and the obligations of the over 120 Medical Schemes operating in that country.
