Applying Sustainable Development - helps people to learn how to apply
sustainable development (SD) and enables people and organisations to
move towards sustainability Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Tech-
nology (UK) - aims are to advance renewable energy technology to pro-
vide substantial and benign energy options for present and future
generations.

The Commonwealth Network of Information Technology for Development
(COMNET-IT) - works primarily within Commonwealth member countries to
support activities related to the development of capabilities in
implementing, managing, and using new information and communications
technologies.

Deep Roots Scholarship Fund - Deep Roots is a scholarship fund whose
mission is to fund highly motivated and intelligent, but economically
disadvantaged students in third world countries to high school and
university; supports women in development, and thus strives towards
awarding 2/3 of all scholarships to girls.

Doctors Without Borders - US Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) Organiza-
tion that provides primary health care, perform surgery, vaccinate
children, rehabilitate hospitals, operate emergency nutrition and
sanitation programs, and train local medical staff.

The Environmental Education Television Project for China - The
Environmental Education Television Project for China (EETPC) provides
TVE, UNICEF and other environmental films free to all who need them
in China.

The Global Environment Information Centre - has a commitment to bet-
ter involve civil groups and people in environmental issues, and un-
dertakes studies and activities that can better involve NGOs and
other grassroots organizations in international and national environ-
mental processes.

The Institute of Island Studies - is a research, education and public
policy institute based at the University of Prince Edward Island,
Charlottetown, Canada.
The Island Sustainability, Livelihood and Equity (ISLE) Program - is
an integrated program which focuses on the sustainable development of
islands. ISLE's aim is to promote sustainable island development
through institutional strengthening.

Solstice: Sustainable Energy and Development Online - the Internet
information service of the Center for Renewable Energy and Sustain-
able Technology (CREST).

UN Sustainable Development Networking Program - initiative to kick-
start networking in developing countries and help people share infor-
mation, knowledge and expertise relevant to sustainable development
to better their lives.

World Commission on Dams - The WCD is an independent and interna-
tional commission established in May 1998 to undertake a global re-
view of the development effectiveness of large dams and to develop
internationally acceptable criteria and guidelines for future deci-
sion-making on dams.
