U.S. government officials are enthusiastically endorsing and funding the
use of DDT in sub-Saharan Africa after years of resisting calls from
scientists who said the insecticide would be the best weapon for
fighting malaria, despite lingering objections by some
environmentalists.

Philip,

This is great news. I have always advocated for the safe use of DDT - in
IRS for the control of malaria. It has been shown to work; pretty
successfully I might add, in South Africa. All that is needed is strict
controlled use of the chemical to ensure it does not get to the farms.
