For the 6th consecutive year, the USAID | DELIVER PROJECT has surveyed the contraceptive security status in various countries, including those supported by USAID. In the 2014 round of data collection, key informants from 47 countries (the highest number of participating countries yet) provided insight into the policies, leadership, finances, and commodity availability that contribute to contraceptive security--the ability to choose, obtain, and use contraceptives as desired.
The survey found that a majority of countries have reproductive health commodity security strategies in place and convene contraceptive security committees. Increasingly, governments are using their own funds to purchase contraceptives for the public sector, and a high number of commodities are offered in both the public and private sectors.
All data from the current and previous surveys are available for download, as well as a slide presentation template for contraceptive security advocacy.
