[afro-nets] Vacancy: EDCTP-DCCC Members for 2010-2012 term

The Developing Countries Coordination Committee (DCCC) of the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) is seeking four new members for a two-year tenure starting 1 January 2010. The DCCC is an independent advisory body comprising prominent African scientists and health professionals. Its general role is to ensure the commitment, ownership and leadership of the EDCTP programme by the participating sub-Saharan Africa countries. The DCCC convenes at least twice a year, each meeting lasting one or two days.

What are we looking for?

EDCTP is looking for four senior scientific experts and health professionals from sub-Saharan Africa with experience in HIV/AIDS, malaria or tuberculosis in the following areas:
- HIV/AIDS (1 position for Central African region)
- TB (1 position from West African Region)
- Malaria (1 position for each of these African regions: eastern and southern)

Candidates are expected to have in-depth knowledge in the following areas:
- Capacity building
- Clinical trials
- Public health issues
- Fundraising
- Networking

Closing date: 9 October 2009

Position starting date: 1 January 2010

Members shall be appointed for an initial term of two years.
