Below in an annoucement for the live webcast of The Lancet Maternal Survival Series to begin on October 5, 2006 at 9:30am (EST). Instructions for accessing the webcast are included. We encourage you to distribute the annoucement as widely as possible, including any of your chapters, member organizations, or additional list-serves. Please note that the webcast will begin when the speakers start speaking, which may be a few minutes after 9:30am (EST) and the webcast will be archived on the referenced website so if people cannot view the event live, they can access it at a later date.

U.S. Launch of The Lancet's Maternal Survival Series

On September 28th, The Lancet published a landmark series of papers on reducing the burden of maternal mortality in developing countries. The maternal survival series addresses the deaths of women who die from preventable causes related to their pregnancy and provides evidence for solutions that can be taken to scale.
To access a live webcast of the U.S. launch of this important event on Thursday, October 5, go to the Wilson Center Web site at http://www.wilsoncenter.org. Please note the event is taking place in Washington, D.C., and its webcast will be on Eastern Standard Time (EST) from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
