World Rural Health Conference

It has been interesting reading some of the discussion of internet
use in Africa, especially in the universities. It obviously also has
application for us in the rural areas though many still struggle to
get even a basic telephone! However even where telephone services are
not widely available satellite links can be made with modern equipment.
Part of this years World Rural Health Conference which will be held
in Durban South Africa in Sept 14 -17 will be looking at information
technology and its use in rural health training and assistance. Much
of this work seems to have been done in Australia and they will
actually be sharing one of their CME sessions by satellite with the
conference.
It would be really good to have rural doctors from the rest of Africa
well represented as we look at the practicalities of support for rural
