Writing Proposals that make a Difference
----------------------------------------

How to write effective grant proposals - an interactive manual on CD-
ROM for not-for-profit organisations.

Does the thought of writing proposals fill you with dread? Do you find
yourself staring at a blank page wondering how you will meet that dead-
line? Does everyone else seem to be more confident about writing pro-
posals than you? Are you uncertain about what to include in a proposal?

This learning module, designed for not-for-profit organisations, has
been designed to help you write effective proposals that make a differ-
ence without the stress usually associated with the task.

This interactive computer-based manual is the product of extensive
field-testing with NGOs in more than 30 countries. It helps you under-
stand how to define a proposal, decide on objectives, plan out the ar-
gument, collect supportive evidence (including how to "schmooze" the
donor agencies), and prepare logical framework analyses and budgets. It
includes links to valuable web sites on the Internet as well as recom-
mended reading list on proposal writing and logical framework analysis.

It has been produced on CD-ROM suitable for use on any Windows based
machine.

"This CD is based on common sense principles, avoids jargon and is easy
to follow. It gives an effective framework to enable applicants to
think through clearly what they want the money for, and gives the grant
giver the confidence that there is a thought through plan." Maggie Bax-
ter, Deputy Chief Executive and Grants Director, Comic Relief.

"One of the most frequent complaints of granting institutions is the
inability of NGOs from the developing world to 'speak the language of
foundations'. This CD will be a big help in remedying the problem." Dr
Charlie Clements, Past President of Physicians for Human Rights.

"I was particularly impressed by the intelligent and logical way in
which the authors have approached the business of grant application
writing. The site map is extremely helpful. This is one of the clearest
fundraising frameworks that I have ever seen." Chris Underhill, Chief
Executive, Intermediate Technology.
