E-drug: About the OLLE HANSSON AWARD (cont)

Dr. Olle Hansson's reach was indeed enormous --in the developing
world, in his home country and in Japan. E-druggers should know that
he also had important influence in the United States. In
particular, he inspired and worked closely with Dr. Milton
Silverman, Silverman's wife Mia Lydeker and Dr. Philip R. Lee, all
of the University of California School of Medicine at San Francisco,
and all champions of rational drug use in the US, Latin America and
the developing world. Dr. Hansson's work is well documented in a
chapter in their "Bad Medicine: The Prescription Drug Industry in the
Third World" Stanford Press 1992. Hansson, Silverman and Lydeker are
all dead; the work they started is for us to carry on.
