E-drug: Activists import generic fluconazole into South Africa (cont)

The issue of making essential drugs affordable and accessible to all
those who need them should urgently be addressed.
However, we in the Department of Pharmacology, at the University of
Cape Town, are strongly opposed to any illegal action which
undermines the regulatory process of the Medicines Control Council
(the SA medicines regulatory authority) .
Health care professionals and patients are dependent on this
regulatory process to ensure that all medicines used in this country
comply with high standards of quality, safety and efficacy.
