E-drug: Advertising in national formularies (cont)
---------------------------------------------
Dear VANDA ZIDONIENE and JURGIS RAMANAUSKAS:

We do not include any advertisement in the Philippine National Drug
Formulary (PNDF) nor in any of our publications wherein production
expenses is covered by government funding.

The PNDF is considered as a major strategy in promoting rational drug
use in our country. It is a basic component of the Philippine
National Drug Policy (PNDP) aimed to make available essential drugs
of proven safety, efficacy and quality at affordable cost.

Other private health publications such as MIMS accommodate drug
advertisements. However, ethical drug ads are limited only to
medical journals and health magazines and not in radio, television
and in any ordinary publications.

We hope this information would be of help you.

Thank you.

Best regards,

KENNETH HARTIGAN-GO, MD, MD(UK), FPCP, FPSECP
Program Manager, Philippine National Drug Policy Program
Deputy Director, Bureau of Food and Drugs
