As to zidovudine: I fully agree with what Richard has written. I am
not an organic chemist, and neither is Richard. Burroughs-
Wellcome might be biased, but there must certainly be impartial
scientists at NHI who could inform us about this issue. On the other
hand, I don't believe that pure zidovudine can be obtained from
Russia or China. Anyway, the thymidine molecule is not one one
can synthetize in one's mother's kitchen.
Let's not make people happy with an illusion - that may cause more
harm than good.
