E-drug: Australian Medicines Handbook
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The second edition of the Australian Medicines Handbook will be
released in March 2000 and it will be available in both print and
CD-ROM formats.
The Australian Medicines Handbook is an independent, national drug
information resource, written and published in South Australia. The
first edition of the Australian Medicines Handbook was published in
May 1998 as a result of a partnership between the Royal Australian
College of General Practitioners, the Pharmaceutical Society of
Australia and the Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental
Pharmacologists and Toxicologists.
The AMH contains information additional to that available in sources
reliant on product information, including material often difficult to
locate such as comparisons between members of a drug class, well
established, non-approved indications for use, summaries of areas of
newer evidence and areas of therapeutic uncertainty. AMH content is
derived from the best available evidence and is widely peer reviewed.
In the second edition over 60 therapeutic areas have been updated
from the first edition and the new therapeutic areas include Breast
Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Treatment of Depression, Substance Abuse
and Attention Deficit Disorder. New drugs/drug classes in the second
edition include oral hypoglycemics, leukotriene antagonists and cox-2
inibitors.
The standard RRP for the AMH second edition is $A125.00 for book
or CD-ROM. The RRP for the package of both together is $A145.00.
With the Australian Medicines Handbook CD-ROM installed on your
computer and the book on your desk you can have up to date,
practical and reliable drug information at your fingertips.
