We are pleased to announce the start of our next E-Learning Course

'Management of Medicines in International Health'
7 May 2012 - 30 November 2012

Medicines are an essential land cost-effective tool of health care and an
important element of health systems. The number of medicines is steadily
rising yet for millions of people worldwide essential medicines remain
unavailable and unaffordable as financial resources available for health
services remain limited. Rational management of medicines is becoming
increasingly important in public health care in order to make optimal use
of the allocated budget and offer health services of the best quality.

The aim of this course is to introduce the participants to the subject of
rational management of medicines in public health services.
The course is sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation
and Development on behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of
Germany. The course is accredited by TropEd (5.5 ECTS).

This online course is designed for Health professionals from
industrialized and developing countries and in the handling of medicines
such as prescribing doctors, pharmacists, health service managers,
administrators and nurses preferably with working experience in Africa.
Preference may be given to people with working experience or ongoing
degrees. The course is held in English. Fluency in English (Reading,
Speaking, Writing) is required.

Reflecting GIZ's main partner countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, we are
specifically inviting applicants from Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda and
Tanzania to register for this e-learning course.

The course itself consists of seven modules. Each module has to be studied
during a three/four-week period with a working load of approximately ten
hours per module.

A one-day start-up seminar (planned in the capital of each country) will
precede the start of the course. During the seminar participants will have
the chance to familiarize themselves with the online environment and the
various communication tools that will be followed by an online
introduction of 5 days.

Following the online phase of six months, a five-day face-to-face workshop
will be held in Kenya.
