E-drug: Branded or generic oseltamivir for bird flu? (2)

   Dear colleagues,

   We now know of 'Tamiflu' capsules and powder for oral use. But is this
   Roche product the only one available for immediate use? If not, what
   are the other products, and what is their status in respect to
   recommendation for use? As there clearly is a growing demand
   forTamiflu, surely if there are other products that can be used,
   should we not be discussing that complte armamentum, rather than focus
   only on Tamiflu? We of course note with gratitude Roche's willingness
   to expand its production capacity through partnerships with other
   manufacturers.

   I also note the reported production of a generic verision of this
   Roche product. Is this an opportunistic action by the generic
   manufacturer, or a service to the public? What is the position of
   Roche in this respect?
