[e-drug] Clarification on terminology

E-DRUG: Clarification on terminology

[What about medical supplies? BS]

I need one common term be used instead of the 3 words, *medicines. medical
devices and borderline products.*

Can we use the term " medical products" or is there any other better
terminology?

Thank you in advance

Please let us use precise terminology to describe different types of products. A medicine or medicinal product need to be authorised or registered at a medicines agency to be marketed. It is necessary for the responsible pharmaceutical company to present data on quality, efficacy and safety.

Medical devices often have only to run through a process of quality assessment and registration. Their "effect" is not pharmacological. Thus products like an artificial hip, a hearing aid, any kind of implant can be defined as medical devices.

I would not replace those terms. When it comes to medical supplies this may "summarise" different products in terms of logistics. Yet, a vaccine requires a different supply approach, some medicines may fall under a specific schedule/regulation and is a control substance.

At the end the reader should know what we are really talking about.

Best regards

Andreas
