Dear All,
Am trying to collate information on the Constitutional provisions on the right to health in 16 Countries in Eastern and Southern African including: Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Namibia, Zambia, South Africa, Mozambique Mauritius, Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Swazilan, DRC and Madagascar.
The interest is look at how these constitutions provide for aspects such as: conduct injurious to health; access to the minimum essential food which is nutritionally adequate and safe, freedom from hunger to everyone; access to basic shelter, housing and sanitation, and an adequate supply of safe and potable water; access to services (e.g. medical services, emergency care, reproductive health) and access to health facilities, goods and services including medicines on a non-discriminatory basis, and of regulated quality, especially for vulnerable or marginalised groups.
Interest also focuses on: social financing of health; a balance between the rights and duties of health professionals and community or state; production and / or access to health resources, such as essential drugs; equitable distribution of all health facilities, goods and services; a national public health strategy and plan of action and any other right to health provisions.
I will be glad to receive copies of these constitutions and any materials related to these areas.
Thanks,
Mulumba, Moses
