Certificate course in International Procurement and Supply Chain Management,
10-21 Dec 2012, New Delhi

Empower School of Health is conducting a Certificate Course in International
Procurement & Supply Chain Management for Health Commodities in
collaboration with partners such as “mSupply-Sustainable Solutions”,
"University of Ghana Medical School (WHO Collaborating Centre)" and
"Pharmaceuticals Systems Africa"

Course objective:
Better understanding of the fundamentals of health procurement and supply
chain activities; gaining hands-on experience in writing & evaluating
procurement and supply chain plans; able to assess and address supply chain
bottlenecks and to evaluate the effectiveness of supply chain interventions

Target Group:
Health professionals in public health programs (government, NGOs, civil
society, academia); supply chain / logistics professionals; physicians and
healthcare professionals working in HIV, TB, malaria, hepatitis,
substitution treatment; community-based organisations and treatment
activists at national and local level; civil society representatives in
national procurement structures

Delivery of course:
Lectures, case studies, discussions and peer to peer
interaction on key supply chain topics

Language:
The course will be conducted in English

Faculty:
International and Indian faculties who have worked with Global Fund, World
Bank, UNICEF, George Soros Foundation, Gates Foundation and various Ministry
of Health (MOH)

Where: Empower School Health, New Delhi, India

When: 10 December to 21 December 2012

Duration: Two week event (option for 1 week /2 weeks course is available)
1st week is focused on information being more of lecture/discussion/peer to
peer interaction
2nd week is devoted to case studies and modelling activities on developing
procurement plans

Cost: Tuition fee: USD 1,000 (1 week) and USD 1,500 (2 weeks)
Accommodation: Guest house available
1 week-single occupancy: US 400 / 1 week-double occupancy: USD 300 (1 week
include days from Sunday to Friday)
2 weeks - single occupancy: USD 800 / 2 weeks-double occupancy: USD 600

Other Facilities:
Food: Daily breakfast and lunch at the campus during the weekdays

Incidentals expenses: Airport pickup and drop, internet access at the guest
house and campus

Academic Partners:

Empower School of Health: Works in 30 countries across Latin America,
Africa, Asia and Europe strengthening institutional capacity of global
health programs and conducts programs in procurement and supply chain
management, clinical research management, pharmacovigilance and health &
hospital management. Its academic partners include University College
London, the Uppsala Monitoring Center (Sweden) and the Swiss Tropical and
Public Health Institute.

mSupply-Sustainable Solutions: Has over 13 years experience of working in
developing countries, providing on-site training and installation of PSCM
software services. It was designed from the ground up with pharmaceutical
warehouses, stores and hospital dispensaries in mind. It is an inventory
control system which records each receipt and issue of stock for an item.
It is being used in more than 20 countries and 170 locations worldwide.

University of Ghana Medical School, WHO Collaborating Centre for Advocacy
and Training in Pharmacovigilance: In October 2010, the WHO designated the
University Of Ghana Medical School as a WHO Collaborating Centre for
Advocacy and Training in Pharmacovigilance with a focus on providing
technical support to national pharmacovigilance centers in Africa.

Pharmaceuticals Systems Africa: It is an international health organization
providing consulting services to developing countries. Its mission is to
work with developing countries to build sustainable capacity in
pharmaceutical supply system management and to enhance program efficiency.
