COURSE AIM:
A reliable, cost-effective and sustainable supply of drugs and healthcare products is essential to meet health targets and save lives.
This qualification course will enable participants to create strategies for strong and effective management of increasingly complex health supply chains. Special attention will be given to: identification and management of risk; effective performance evaluation; and optimising results through skilled and empowered staff.
Participants successfully completing this course will have the added benefit of achieving a Crown Agents' qualification, validated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). The course has been levelled by SQA at level 8 on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework which is comparable to the complexity of a Higher national Diploma. In addition, successful participants will automatically receive certificate level membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Senior executives and managers responsible for any aspect of a health supply chain, including district health managers, senior pharmacists, procurement, stores and project managers and personnel from central tender boards.
HOW YOU WILL BENEFIT

- understand the supply chain and its component parts, including how these components work and interact; ad how they impact upon health outcomes
- improve performance along various aspects of the health supply chain in order to gain efficiency and effectiveness of health service delivery in your organisation or country

- develop motivated, professional supply chain staff
- implement appropriate supply chain monitoring systems to ensure goals are achieved and failures prevented

- Procurement practice, tools and techniques in the health supply chain
- Health supply chain components and strategies including: forecasting and quantification; freight forwarding and customs clearance; inventory management; warehousing; distribution management
- Risk management in health supply chain management
- Corruption and ethics in health supply chain management
- Monitoring and evaluation of health supply chain management performance
- Action plan: application of health supply chain management strategies
ASSESSMENT
Full support, coaching and guidance will be provided to participants. Assessment will be through a series of exercises designed specifically for this course. These will focus on the practical application of skills and the development of an action plan, relevant to your own context. These will be completed during the course and may include some evening preparation.
Achievement of this qualification will provide evidence to support your professional development.
COURSE FEE:
The course fee of £3,950 covers the cost of tuition, training materials, lunch and refreshments on training days, SQA registration and certificate, CIPS Certificate membership*, certificate of attendance and course photograph, membership of Crown Agents alumni website, transfers fro the training venue to the airport at the end of the course, support & advice from your local Crown Agents' office on the application and mobilisation process.
Note: The fee is quoted exclusive of UK Value Added Tax which is applied at the standard rate to all non-exempt bodies, as determined by UK HM Revenue & Customs. Under UK tax regulations, VAT is chargeable on all training received in the UK except where the applicant is employed by an overseas government in furtherance of its sovereign activities and a certificate to that effect has been provided to the training organisation. This exemption does not apply to applicants employed by nationalised industries.
*Gaining SQA certificate and CIPS certificate membership is dependant on successful completion of the course assessments. Full attendance is required at the course.
