E-drug: Decision support on computers
-------------------------------------
Dear Friends,
A computer program that guides doctors through management of stroke was
presented at the International Cochrane Colloquium in Adelaide in October
1996. It prompts doctors to record an adequate history and examination and
then guides them to appropriate investigation and therapy.
There is interest in developing a similar Decision Support System for
general practice in South Australia where computers, so far, are rarely
used in the consulting room.
If you know of anything similar, including therapeutic guidelines on
computer please let us know. We would particularly like to know of
evidence on whether such systems are accepted by doctors and effective at
improving therapy or even health outcomes.
Thank you
regards,
Peter
