Dear colleagues,
Who can help our colleague Heinrich Berg from Dominican Republic?
Please respond directly to him at email hberg@tricom.net
Best wishes from the Dominican Republic. Formerly working at the Heidelberg
Tropical Institute (Diesfeld), then Cameroon Health Project in Cameroon, but
now managing an integrated Health Programme in the Dominican Republic
(PRISA, European Union funded), I'd like to approach you asking about
software programmes about managing (Essential) Drugs, which is part of the
programme.
We basically have two needs:
1. Managing Drugs internally at the Regional Reference Hospitals (between
200 an 250 beds).
2. Managing a Essential Drug distribution system within the Regions.
Programmes should be in Spanish, but if unavailable could be in English.
Important in any case is the KISS principle (Keep It Simple, Stupid).
Therefore we are willing to accept also commercial programmes. In Cameroon I
was involved in the EDP programm, mainly Bamenda. There, after failing to
develop an own programme (Clipper-based, to many faults, system crashes,
user-unfriendly), I introduced PeachTree, which proved to be much easier,
but still had several inconveniences, mainly that the expiry date had to be
integrated into the product code, but also that working on a PC is a major
hurdle for storekeeper and others, if not already familiar. If you want to
know more bout this, give me a note.
I heard about UNICEF developments, but never saw a usable product.
Please send me some information on what is available and usable on the
market today.
Best wishes,
Heinrich Berg
