[e-drug] Drug Price Fixation - Parliamentary Panel's Recommendation in India (2)

Hi,

I do not understand what this reports means to the poor patients who mostly pay out of the pocket for purchasing the medicines in India, to remain alive and well. Many committees have been appointed but without any terminal benefit to the citizenry. Pharmaceutical companies have continued to exploit the patients because the companies are basically profit driven and not patient welfare oriented.

There have been studies showing huge mark ups in medicines in India, in case of some medicines ranging up to thousand times. For those committees which can not find these through the skewed bureaucratic procedures, it is best that they at least read the researched articles and then act. It is funny that handful of researchers can find and report the medicine price anomalies and the various monitoring agencies just keep wasting time in discussing and recommending. If only the apathy could be replaced by empathy and sympathy, the pathy will succeed.
