Greetings,
I need some help in research on the pharmaceutical industry in Latin America. I
am interested in finding a list of the main pharmaceutical companies in
Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala,
Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela and the market share of
each of these companies products in each country. I am also interested in which
of the principal drugs sold are locally produced, and which are imported in each
country. Can anyone direct me to papers, articles, other sources or people that
have knowledge and can help me in this area? I appreciate any help you can
provide.
Regards,
Les Bourne

[Notes from moderators:
The most accurate data on pharmaceutical sales (updated once a year) are
available from IMS, but they are extremely expensive.
I don't think you can get these free (unless you have contacts in the industry
itself)
The pharmaceutical journal SCRIP publishes also overviews of sales statistics,
but not that detailed.
This journal is subscribed by most industries, industry watchers and some
libraries.
In MARTINDALE you can find lists of product names for each company (not
exhaustive, but easily accessible)
The various MIMS guides (commercial formularies with bad drug information, but
with lists of products available in certain markets)
Additional information may be obtained from the Industry association itself, but
I doubt if they will help you greatly:
