E-DRUG: Electronic prescribing (cont'd)

E-drug: Electronic prescribing (cont'd)
---------------------------------------------

Tom,

To clarify the points with regard to signature security:
When a physician/provider obtains staff privileges, the official
signature will be written in a designated area, such as medical
records, or the Medical Staff Services Office, in front of the director of
the particular dept. These signatures will be kept in a secured place.

The PIN would be assigned at the time that staff privileges are
awarded. The PIN would be known (ideally) only to the individual
physician & the the computer services department, which would
assign it.

It all sounds complex, but it should help tighten security with regard
to falsification of doctor's orders.
