E-DRUG: Enantiopure medicines (4)
-------------------------------
Dear all,
I strongly agree with the views of Dr.Stefano Biondi. Racemic switching is
not just a tool for drug life-cycle management. More chiral switches are
expected to replace the racemates with safer options, making drug therapy
more effective and safer.
My thanks to Dr Peter R Mansfield for the articles he has suggested for
reading.
Thanks for your time.

E-DRUG: Enantiopure medicines (5)
--------------------------------
Prof Valliappan and Dr.Stefano Biondi,
In theory moving from a chiral mixture to a singe enantiomer drug
could have all sorts of benefits.
In practice so far I am not aware of a single example where the single
enantiomer drug has had large enough benefits in clinically important
endpoints to justify the higher prices that manufacturers have charged.
The accusation that these drugs are being used for life-cycle
management seems particularly justified when the introduction of the
single enantiomer drug is timed differently in different countries to
match the date when the patent runs out on the chiral mixture.
