[e-drug] Fixed Dose Combinations: Information/Evidence

E-drug: Fixed Dose Combinations: Information/Evidence
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

E-druggers: I am writing a thesis for my MPH on fixed dose combinations and
I would like to access the expertise and experience of the e-drug
subscribers in this regard.

From my reading of the literature on FDCs (primarily in the context of TB),

I note that FDCs apparently have several advantages over administration of
separate, free-drug combinations: prevention of monotherapy and drug
resistance; improvement in patient compliance, simplifying drug handling
and supply.

I use the word "apparently" because I've not seen any actual evidence to
support these advantages (perhaps I've been looking in the wrong places).
For example, although I understand that an experiment/trial to prove that
FDC administration ameliorates or even eliminates drug resistance is
probably technically difficult, has anyone actually done this? I've similar
questions about the other purported advantages.

If anyone can point me to the appropriate literature, I would be most
thankful.

I shall cross post this to tbnet as well.

Thanks.
