E-DRUG Flunitrazepam (Rohypnol (R) ) Abuse Potential
Zimbmabwe is currently reviewing the abuse potential of Flunitrazepam
following reports of abuse of the drug for gang or date rapes.
Two years ago when we reviewed the above subject, there were no reports
or evidence of abuse of Flunitrazepam in Zimbabwe. The manufacturer of
Rohypnol however withdrew the 2mg tablet formulation and replaced it
with a 1mg tablet formulation with a smaller pack size. Funitrazepam is
marketed as a prescription preparation in Zimbabwe.
Would you please kindly advise us of your experience with Flunitrazepam
in your country that is:
1) Did you receive any reports of abuse of Flunitrazepam?
2) What actions were taken to minise the abuse of the drug?

I think that the broader issues related to this drug are worthy of
discussion. If the drug is used in other countries as a "date rape" drug
and there are other equivalent drugs available, should the drug be
