E-drug: Generic names for combinations
---------------------------------------------
For the combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid, one should use the
generic names as they are.
In UK they have invented special 'generic' names for combinations, like
co-amoxiclav.
This now seems to have come to a stop.
British Approved Names, BANs, are proposed to be phased out within 2005 and
be replaced by recommended International Nonproprietary Names, rINN.

The only exception is said to be the continued use of 'adrenaline' and
'noradrenaline'.
Co-combination names are not rINN standard, and should not be used.
Co-combination names are especially problematic in medicines with three or
more active ingredients.
