E-drug: Generic Omeprazole

I just read Kirsten Myhr article on the shenanigans employed by the drug
companies to keep their prices in the stratosphere and want to add my stick
to the fire. I just returned from a 3 month stay in my native Uruguay,
where I was able to buy the local generic omeprazole, called Omepracid by
Lazar Laboratories for the equivalent of U$S 0.65 per 20 mg pill. The
medication worked as well as the Prilosec (U$S 3.75 per 20 mg pill) that I
have been taking in the US for the last several years.
The only drawback was the lack of uplifting TV ads extolling the virtues of
the medicine and exhorting viewers to ask their physicians about it. I
really missed that
