E-drug: Generic prescription & rational use of drugs (cont)
---------------------------------------------
[cross-posted from Indices with thank. BS]
Hi Ruwan,
In Australia we allow generic substitution by pharmacies but our
government cannot quite come at advocating generic prescribing! Why
not? Because of pressure from multi-national pharmaceutical
companies! Also, regrettably, many doctors enjoy the perks provided
by multi-national drug companies!
For more general information on Australian drug policy and quality use of
medicines policy you might like to look at:
http://www.health.gov.au/haf/docs/nmp2000.htm and
You might also encourage your colleagues to, "Take the Pledge" and
say "NO" to drug company influence. See

Cheers
Ken
