Request for information
During the therapy with ginseng (200 mg Ginseng extract p.o. in the morning), a
44 year old women (insulin-dependent diabetic) observed an increasing of the
number of hypoglycemic episodes. She want to know, if the ginseng has an
influence of the diabetes.
In the literature, we found only one source, who describe a hyoglycemia in rats
and mice, caused by ginseng after administration iv or sc.
In Switzerland we have not a lot of experience with ginseng, so we hope that we
can get on this way more information about this side effect of ginseng. We
think , that in the Asian region, ginseng is often used and maybe this side
effect is well know.
