E-DRUG: Height Increase Pills!? (2)

Dear E-drug fellows,

These height increase pills are widely available in India as OTC products, widely advertised through the advertisements in Newspapers and TV channels.

Leave aside these herbal products (which are assumed to be free from adverse effects), sometimes back there was advertisement in TV for Diclofenac a Prescription drug in India. A cough syrup by the brand name GLYCODIN contains dextromethorphan a Schedule H drug (prescription drug) in India and is widely advertised.

[So these are herbal products, that are allowed for over-the-counter sales without a prescription? Good to hear that they have no side-effects! I assume that means they have no effects either?
Or is there published evidence that these "height increase pills" work? Should consumers not be protected from ineffective medicines that cost money and distract from real health problems? Wilbert Bannenberg, moderator]

The efficacy of these height increase pills is not known. The issue is widespread sale of such medicines of unestablished efficacy in the market despite the presence of Laws such as Drugs & Magic remedies Objectionable Advertisement Act in India.

Probably there might be some loopholes which are being exploited,

[Maybe time that Indian lawmakers consider these ineffective "herbal" medicines and start protecting consumers interests, as consumers are spending their valuable cash on this nonsense? WB]
