E-drug: Info on how generic entry affects pricing (cont'd)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just a note of clarification regarding terms. Parallel imports are
imports of the same brand, sold in different countries. The term
parallel means the good is sold in different markets, and a parallel
import is when you buy from the country where the good is priced
lower, and import into the country where the good is priced higher.
For example, if you could buy Levi jeans in the USA and sell them
in Europe, that would be a parallel import (currently prohibited
under EU trademark rules, which do not at present permit global
exhaustion of trademark rights).

Imports of a competitor are just called imports, or generic
competition.
