Pharmaceutical Coordinator
Introduction:
The Campaign for Access to Essential Medicines is an international MSF
project launched in 1999. The Access Campaign challenges external
medical-political actors in order to improve access and stimulate
development of adapted medical tools (medicines, vaccines, diagnostics and
other health technologies) that have or could have major impact on
morbidity and mortality in contexts where MSF works.
The Pharmaceutical Coordinator of the MSF Access Campaign
The Pharmaceutical Coordinator conducts problem analysis and advocacy to
overcome access barriers to health technologies, in particular related to
price, production, quality, availability in country and appropriateness of
formulations. He/she monitors and influences pharmaceutical policy
developments that affect access to essential health technologies.
The Pharmaceutical Coordinator reports to the Executive Director of the MSF
Access Campaign and is a member of the Management Team. He/she coordinates
and supports and a pharmacist team of three plus consultants.
Specific objectives of the position:
· Stimulate generic competition
· Stimulate production and availability of appropriate drug
formulations
· Facilitate the use of key products and new formulations by MSF
· Promote policies that ensure quality and reduce substandard medicines
· Promote adapted regulatory strategies that allow timely approval of
new and adapted products for neglected diseases
Profile:
· Degree in Pharmacy with at least seven years postgraduate experience
including pharmaceutical policy and/or regulatory affairs
· At least three years work experience in developing countries
· Excellent communication and team working skills
· Management experience
· Fluency in written and oral English; French and/or Spanish
appreciated
· Available for frequent travel
· Confident public speaker
· Knowledge of MSF an advantage
· Advocacy experience an advantage
