E-DRUG: Low Molecular Weight Heparins

E-DRUG: Low Molecular Weight Heparins (cont)
--------------------------------------------

I have a meta-analysis comparing LMWH with unfractionated heparin that
was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine 1999;130:800-809.

The conclusions werethat the type of LMWH studied influenced the risk of
bleeding although no single preparation was found to be better or worse
than the others. Studies that used dalteparin, tinzaparin, nadroparin
favoured LMW heparins whereas studies that used enoxaparin and reviparin
favoured unfractionated heparin. The treatment benefit was
statistically significant only for tinzaparin.
