Medecins Sans Fronteres/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an international
humanitarian organisation with a presence in more than 70 countries that
delivers emergency healthcare, responds to epidemics and advocates for
increased access to care and treatment.
MSF also works to define unmet needs and stimulate R&D to develop new
medical tools. The Access & Innovation Officer is a new advocacy position
that will be based in our Johannesburg office and work closely with members
of our South African medical/operational and national teams as well as with
the international Access to Essential Medicines Campaign.
We are looking for someone with a medical or paramedical background that
has knowledge and/or experience working in one or more of the following
areas: HIV/AIDS, TB, and paediatrics/vaccines.
The Access & Innovation Officer will have two primary functions: 1)
identify areas of potential MSF collaboration with the South African
research community, and 2) fight for access to new diagnostics, vaccines
and drug therapies in South Africa by working with local collaborators and
linking to people working on Access Issues internationally.
