E-DRUG: New Dutch Foundation to take on high medicines prices
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear e-drug readers,

Here is my latest blog about a new Dutch Foundation that plans to take on high drug prices and details about its first case: an old medicine which has obtained an orphan drug indication and returned to the market with a price 500 times higher than the older product.

For those of you who read Dutch here is the website of the new Foundation:

Some e-druggers, including myself are involved in the new Foundation.

and,

Also in Dutch, a newspaper article that came out last Saturday about the case:

Dear Ellen,

This is exciting news and an important case. If the Foundation and its advisors would like an example of details about the structure of manufacturing costs, they could look at the appendices of the research we did for the Access Campaign by MSF/Doctors Without Borders on fixed, semi-fixed, annual, and variable costs.

The article was published by VACCINE, and thanks to MSF, it is free:

Costs of HPV vaccines are much lower than prices. Can be affordable, with profits. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0264410X16308568

Details and methods are in the appendices, listed on the left.
