E-DRUG: New Trump leak: priorities from Rx Working Group meetings
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[This Trump aim (if realised) to reduce drug prices in the US by "changing inefficiencies and irrationalities in government policy and making other countries pay more for medicine." could have an impact on access to affordable medicines in others countries. BS]

We have a little more information from the Trump Administration's Drug Pricing and Innovation Working Group.

Kaiser Health News originally described, but did not publish, a document of Working Group meeting priorities and principles, which provides context for the subsequently leaked draft Executive Order.

Today we are publishing the priorities document. Find it on our Trump Drug Prices Agenda page, here:
https://www.citizen.org/trump-drug-prices-order .

The priorities include reducing drug prices by "changing inefficiencies and irrationalities in government policy" and making other countries pay more for medicine.

The priorities studiously avoid challenging the pricing abuses of the prescription drug corporations.

The principles suggest that Americans should not pay higher prices than consumers in comparable economies. Appropriate action on this principle would be to authorize affordable generic competition with patented drugs when U.S. prices are higher than in comparable countries, as Representative Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) presented in a recent amendment.
