E-DRUG: NGO meeting: Rational Drug Use at WHA
-------------------------------------------------------------
[Delegates from all over the world gather in Geneva at the time of the World Health Assembly so you might be interested to join this event. BS]
I N V I T A T I O N to the Members of the 58th World Health Assembly in
Geneva, 16th to 25th of May, 2005:
NGO meeting on Rational Use of Medicines on 18th of May 2005 at the World
Health Assembly, Geneva
The irrational use of medicines is still having drastic effects in rich and
poor countries alike. The prevention of future scenarios of drug-resistant
disease strains, health hazards due to fake and sub-standard drugs,
treatment failures or even aggravations of diseases due to irrational use of
drugs, and the maintenance of cost-effective health care, depend upon sound
policies on the provision and use of medicines. But rational medicines
policies are not a distant desirable goal, but a present imperative!
Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN) and Health Action International (HAI) would like to invite you to the NGO briefing titled:
Rational use of medicines: what prospects for the future? On 18th of May
2005, 17:30 (venue to be announced)
What is the present situation, what are the experiences in implementing
Rational Use of Medicines (RUM) in a national health system? We would like
to present you positive examples of improved RUM, find out why RUM is not
being practiced in many cases, and discuss with you messages forward of how
to get RUM implemented.
We would be very glad to welcome you to our meeting and to learn about your
own experiences with Rational or Irrational Use of Medicines!
