Laboratory supplies form an essential composition of essential health commodities required for quality health service delivery in every country. The success of public health programmes in HIV, tuberculosis (TB), malaria and non-communicable diseases require well-functioning laboratory services for proper diagnosis. It is therefore crucial to understand the effective management of medical laboratory supplies based on their peculiarities and health systems in different contexts. Laboratory supply chains are designed to ensure consistent availability of test kits, laboratory reagents, consumables and equipment.
